There are 11.4 million hand amputees in the world, 80% of which live in developing nations. I’m co-founder of PSYONIC, a bio-tech startup developing advanced, neurally controlled prosthetic hands at low-cost. Through this venture I’ve participated in business programs and competitions such as the NSF I-CORPS, VentureWell, Cozad New Venture Competition, and OneStart. Currently we’ve raised over $40k in non-dilutive funding and are incorporating and applying for NSF/NIH SBIR grants. On the technical side I lead all mechanical design, controls, and manufacturing. On the business end I’ve given dozens of pitches, sharpened my technical writing, worked with lawyers in patent law and incorporation, led business consulting groups, and connected with bio-tech professionals and venture capitalists.
