This project was to design a device that could aid visually impaired people. The device straps around the wearers wrist and uses a sonar range sensor to get data of how far away the person’s hand is from an object. The Arduino takes this information and provides feedback by varying the rate at which a small speaker beeps and changing the level of stimulation given by two vibrotactile motors touching the skin. It is programmed with different settings for varying distances and forms of feedback. The case is 3D printed and includes the commands of each button in braille.
